  1. The 7 speed wouldn't make any difference unless you were autobahn cruising. Most cars with 7,8,9 or 10 speeds don't use the higher gears until you've gone past a certain speed. The 7 speed in my MB only goes into 7th until you pass 80 km/h. Too high of a gear at too low of a speed would mean drivetrain shudder.
