  1. I work at a Ford dealership as a Service Advisor. We are always doing 3 to 5 of those 1.5 and 1.6 EcoBoost motors a week for short and long block replacements. I have seen some high mileage ones (250,000kms and up) but the owners were religious with 5000 km oil change intervals and coolant changes along with having that campaign done that runs the water pump more and opens the tstat earlier.

  2.  @speedkar99  For the most part maintenance will help. The issue is that the engines are so sensitive that any slight lack of maintenance will cause a problem. I'd stay from the motors completely just to play it safe.

  3. Great video. I may have missed something though when watching it. Is the steel belt and the conical pulley lubricated by transmission fluid or is the fluid simply to put pressure on the pulleys to vary the input/output depending on what the driver wants? Thanks! We have 2 Nissans with CVTs, one a 2008 Sentra and another a 2018 Kicks. I can tell how they've change up the CVT over the years as the Kicks' CVT can simulate shifting while the Sentra's is just a standard CVT. Both work great and get fluid changes every 50,000kms. Looks like that'll be the formula to stick to if we want them to last long.
