  1. These cars were quirky in terms of the reliability/dependability but with the right care there's no reason you couldn't drive one for 200k+ miles. Great size, styling and the S54 does sound legendary.

  2.  @f430ferrari5  BMW knew there were problems with the later models too otherwise they wouldn't issue a recall for those VIN ranges. They wouldn't waste money where it isn't necessary. It's just like the customer care program for the N63 V8 motors later on. People said it was no big deal yet they spent a crap ton of money tending to timing chains, oil sumps, injectors and CCV replacements. They did it for a reason.
