  1. Or it could have been a crappy PCV system that sucked in oil and threw it on the intake valves. BMW, MB and worst of all Audi (Any VAG vehicle for that matter) use PCV systems that can suck an excessive amount of oil. It's not uncommon to see oil in the intake manifolds and intake valves.

  2. For MB V8 motors the M113 and M273 are my favorite. Simple enough, smooth, powerful and reliable. The M278 as nice as they perform does scare me a tad. PS if the valve covers ever leaked it must be an expensive job to replace.
