@lastnamefirstandlast5024 Brah Birmingham population is lower than Richmond and dc and Richmond California is lower than Dc yet they have a higher murder rate. I looked up that 59 murder was recorded in 2017 which the murder rate had decreased from 2016 310 murders. It doesn't if southeast dc is 144k as the population last i checked southeast aint the only hood or dangerous part in dc when I lived there. Richmond California as an overall population has 110k yet this year they're ranked in the top 10 right behind st Louis. The east side of Richmond Ca is around 55k ppl and thats the most dangerous part but would they be in the top 10 if only the murders are coming from the east no they'd be very low probably middle of the pack. Like I said it's not based off of one section of the city that determines the overall crime. Like Chicago the south side didn't produce all 500+ murders most of the murders came from the west side of Chicago 300+
