The frogs last won under Napoleon, before he lost in the Iberian Peninsula, in Russia and at Waterloo. Since then its been a series of losses, withdrawals and ignominious exits from countries that don't want them along with a number of mutinies of the army leading to the 5th Republique. Been a few years then....

@MrJebosan That's fair, Renè in the Cafè along with monsieur 'Psst, it is I' Le Clare and monsieur 'Swiftly and with Style' Alfonse, along with Michelle from the Resistance, did their best. To be fair, the painting of the Fallen Madonna with zee big accessories helped.....lol

@abuseofmainstreammediacanh5713 Real US military successes are few and far between with some great stuff ups included such as the Bay of Pigs. Their Vietnam and Afghanistan fiascos are impressive though. Interesting is the fact that during the American War of Independence the Russian Fleet helped to keep the Britsh navy at bay.

@hubertusvenator5838 The English invaded England in 1066 and won, it was an English family squabble between two English lands divided by the English Channel. The English language has had input from many countries and their languages, that is why it is a living, growing and developing language, not something that is dead and trying to hold onto the past. All my business dealings throughout the world have been in English, it is the international language of commerce and friendship. Put things this way, if it weren't for two English and one Russian speaking country, France would be speaking German.

In September and October of 1863 12 Russian ships anchored in New York harbour as a deterrent to the English as the Union thought that Britain might try to attack them during their time of war. Catherine II did it, ostensibly for an ice free port.
