  1. Don't think Russia wants anything to do with western Ukraine, they do not see themselves as Russians. Cut that area up and give it to their neighbouring countries so it cannot form up again (there are many west Ukrainians who would rather be with Romania, Hungary or Poland) and the look after the remaining 2/3 in the east who are Russian and wish to be a full part of Russia. Happy outcome for all.
