  2. Perhaps there is a view that the chosen people will miraculously not be touched in any conflagration, and this appears to be very much the thinking of those in Washington. Their efforts to keep and carry out all of their wars and conflicts in overseas countries has been successful to date, however none of them involved a committed rival superpower with the ability to drop a nuclear strike on their back door step within 5 minutes, it's a very different game.
