Sounds like Madame Chiang Kai Shek (spelling) of Formosa/China circa 30s in USA running a begging bowl in top level society over there and making herself and her husband very wealthy in the process. Funnily enough many of the trucks and other military equipment sent to them were sold to the country's enemies and other groups, sound familiar?
