  1. With the push in the UN to make it more '21st century' and the US not giving visas to visiting diplomats, this will make the UN pretty irrelevant and countries will either ignore them or just withdraw. This is what precipitated the demise of the League of Nations pre WW II when Germany left.

  2. If China does not support Russia now and Russia fails, they know that they will face the full force of the US and be next in line for 'democratisation' by the west, and that will include India.
