  1. As a Hurricane Katrina survivor, I want to mention MANY residents don't own cars. It's a geographically small city that is easy to get around without a car. And evacuating has its OWN set of risks. Working class folks can't afford to stay in hotels for days. I was planning on leaving town via Amtrak, but they closed it down earlier than I expected. I was in the Superdome.

  2. The leadership is poor because most politicians at the federal level care about their donors, their Party, etc., over the country and its people. Plus the system is designed to NOT get things done. you need solid majorities in Congress, which is rare.
