@derbigpr500 Dont think I hate GT500, no, I like it as a car that would be driven to a track on a back of a tow-truck, you'd drive it around, and then tow it home. It will also be very cheap because of its one-purpose nature. But that's why it's not fair comparing it to cars such as Jaguar XK-R, BMW M6, BMW M3, Audi RS5 or similar cars, to which "new breed" american muscle cars are often compared to just because they have similar performance, because those cars are in a different league.

@atami210 And what most people dont understand (especially on youtube as it appears) is that cars arent judged by only one characteristic, and a lot of people do that. Some people say: "why the hell would you pay twice as much for an M3 if Mustang GT will do 0-60 just as fast?" To me, thats like saying: "why the hell would you pay $500 for a couple of bottles of champagne if you can get a six pack of beer for $10 and get equally drunk?". Its just a completely different and incomparable thing.

@derbigpr500 While I don't hate american cars, I do hate american car shows who are always extremely biased, and I already see them write nonsense like they did when Boss 302 Mustang came out...car reviews named like "Boss 302, the M3 killer", where they strip out the Mustang (even take backseats out), put road-illegal tires and front air splitter on it, and then they compare its lap time around Laguna Seca to that of a stock M3...at the end Mustang is only 0,5 sec faster and wins in review.

@paskowitz Yea and thats why regular Mustang is all you need, because in this one you wont be able to cruise around. About value...I wouldnt agree. Even though Mustangs dont cost much, they still feel too cheap and disposable for anyone who's serious about his car to even consider. Screw a car that costs $30000 if it feels like you've been ripped off every time you sit inside or every time you're not flooring it in a straight line.

You forgot to mention in the comparison that Jaguar will do 7:50 time on road tires, while being comfortable, refined, quiet, you will sit inside surrounded by luxurious materials and top notch build quality, you will be inside a luxury car, and still go extremely fast. In GT500, you will be surrounded by cheapest plastic, no luxury at all, car will be extremely uncomfortable and unrefined (as even the normal mustang is)...not to mention it did 7:30 on SEMI-SLICK track tires, which cut lap time.

@derbigpr500 At the end of that review they will tell you that Boss 302 is a faster car around track, and thats why its a M3 killer. But they wont tell you WHY its faster (road-illegal modifications, stripped out - useless in every day, and 40hp more), and they wont tell you that M3 humiliates Mustang in every other aspect, and EVEN performance when Mustang is stock. No, they wont tell that, because that would make you think that an american car is worse than an import car, which is not good.

@atami210 True. And in most cases, competition STILL needs more power to be as fast, even though they already sacrificed comfort, quality, luxury...nothing beats a M car in the saloon world. Even the AMG's and RS's Audis are no match. They equal BMW in terms of quality, every day usability, luxury, but they still cant offer then handling and balance that BMW's have, even the regular 3 series or 5 series drive better and handle nicer than some performance models out there.

@derbigpr500 To conclude, its simple to make a car go fast around track if you ignore luxury, comfort, build quality, everyday use, driving in wet/cold/off track, etc... and merican car makers make sports cars like that. Thats why Mustang GT will never be as good as lets say Jaguar XKR, because XKR is a car, it does EVERYTHING well, and its still fast, probably as fast around track as GT500 if you put the same semi-slick track tires on it, despite having 100hp less and infinitely more luxury.

@derbigpr500 The point is,american cars are still one-purpose cars. Its easy to make a car that will go fast around track if you ignore everything else. Give it loads of power, give it sports suspension, huge brakes, limited slip diff, aerodynamic kit, strip out any luxury, use light materials (cheap plastic) in interior to save weight and at the end give it track tires, and you have a very fast car for a track. Thats what Ford did with GT500 (and Boss302), thats what they did with Camaro ZL1.
