The Ukrainians agreed to a deal in March of 2022 in Ankara, Turkey which only involved Ukraine officially ceding Crimea to Russia, giving the Donbas limited autonomym, ensuring ethnic Russians in Ukraine safety and no entry of Ukraine into NATO. Putin followed through by pulling troops back from Kiev and other areas while the Ukrainians then chose to not follow the agreement. They chose to have their country destroyed and their male population decimated. There is no 'breakdown in communication'. Zelensky is a complete dirtbag who is projecting. Don't forget Merkel's comment on playing Putin and the Russians regarding the Minsk 2 agreement.
