  2. Bullshit, they pay the least taxes per person by far of any of the actual states in the US. Using the latest available data from the IRS which is 2015, Puerto Rico's total tax contribution was $3,524,557,000 for a population of 3.5 million. Vermont which is the next from the bottom in gross federal taxes at $4,495,280,000 has a population 1/5th as large so pay 6 times more than Puerto Ricans per person. So the aid provided was MORE than PR has paid into the US coffers for over the last 10 years not including the monies that the US federal government might have sent to/used in Puerto Rico.
