  1. +MrTimebomb12Music < In 2001 the USG declassified numerous documents, two of which were particularly interesting.  One was that they had broken the Japanese code as early as 1938.  The second was the near real time course plotting of the supply ships which were trailing the carrier task force which attacked Pearl Harbor.  They knew these supply ships were supporting that task force and thus knew for weeks that it was steaming toward Hawaii.

  3. ***** Yes, they knew and tracked the IJN carrier task force, via the supply vessels which for some odd reason did not have encoded radio transmissions, from the moment they left Japan.  The US declassified a couple of documents in 2001, buried amongst tens of thousands of other documents declassified at the same time, which showed that they had broken the IJN codes around 1938 and included a track map of the supply vessels.
