  1. Just like in the West (with very rare exception), in China you never own the land your house sits on. In the West one pays rent (property tax) to the State in perpetuity while in China you lease the land from the State for a set number of years with no guarantee the lease can get extended or a new one issued. Fail to pay property tax, your land and house are seized. Your lease expires, your house can be demolished. Both systems are GARBAGE and anyone pushing either side is nothing but a propagandist.
