@ramal5708 CONUS was never in any serious danger of invasion or massed bomber attack. Sneaking subs up in onesies or twosies to lob a bunch of smaller caliber shells is not like rolling up on Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York with a line of battleships and dropping 15 or 18 inch shells the way the US Navy was doing to Japan in 1945. Nor did the axis powers ever have a heavy bomber force or the basing options to support it like the Americans and Brits had.

@johnnash5118 After the initial scare, all that would accomplish is pissing off the American public even more and ensuring that Japan loses harder. Similar to the way that strategic bombing in Europe, despite massive damage, utterly failed to live up to the Douhet theory that bombing would pressure the civilian populace to rise up and overthrow their rulers, thus ending the war.
