  1.  @sirrliv  Ladders across to a moving vessel while it's crew is shooting at you? I don't think so. But at a range of only a few meters, infantry can do lots of damage with well aimed rifle fire and crew served machine guns. Even better if they had mortars or other light artillery available. And if they manage to find a way to block the channel and stop the ship from moving, boarding even becomes a non-zero possibility.

  2. Cool. I just looked up that Roman bridge on google maps. Seems there is a golf course just west of it that kind of makes it pointless now, I am guess the golf course is built over the old stream bed and the water course was rerouted?
