I can't remember the last time I cared to watch an NFL game at all.

@dark day You get butthurt replies from people like you, apparently.
13
Doesn't matter how good you are, you will conform to record industry cookie cutter pop standards.
13
If you watch live videos of him playing solos, he often sings along to them off microphone as he plays. The guy has music in his head and it goes straight to his fingers.
13
That part near the end where you guys mention that song recording is time-traveling hits so hard. I have an old Victrola record player from 1915 and some really old records that date to the 1910s-1950s. One of the records is from 1915 and it's like listening to ghosts. Every musician, vocalist, everyone involved in making that record is long gone but here I am in 2022 hearing their voices.
13
Chris has a Rush album behind him. Instant cool points as far as I'm concerned.
12
@dumpygoodness4086 You need to see an ad for crazy pills.
12
Gain controls the pre-amp, master volume controls the power amp. Turning up the gain overdrives the input to the power amp, resulting in distortion. If you turn the gain way up and the master volume down, depending on the amp, it will be fuzzy and noisy but not necessarily ear-splittingly loud.
12
@hokedo Well, too bad you don't like it. Fortunately for you, there's plenty of music with no dynamics, lots of auto-tune, and no song structure out there currently.
12
Rick should be paid to remix all rock music from the last 15 years.
12
Anything that features lots of Rick Wright's sound would be awesome.
12
Also, the fact that Zeppelin has been sued successfully in the past for stealing lyrics makes them a target for every sleazebag ambulance-chasing lawyer out there with dollar signs in their eyes.
11
This should've been in the soundtrack for One Tree Hill, Charmed, or Smallville. Like it.
11
@vpgnto Someone with skillz should make some Beatowave music and vids, like vaporwave but with Rick voiceovers heavily reverbed. Chill out while Rick preaches the word.
11
@JeffBostick222 I think he would care, actually. At the very least he'd be cool enough to give Rick an interview. Jimi did some TV interviews and he always came off as humble, nice guy. Sad he's gone and has no control over his estate.
11
I was wondering if Blood and Roses by Smithereens would make the list, at least honorable mention, but alas... I agree about Krist Novocelic deserving more recognition. Part of the problem is that Nirvana as a band often gets looked down on by snob musicians, from jazzers to metalheads.
11
Wait, Bach died?! Dammit I guess I waited too long to catch him on tour.
11
I think of Radiohead as "prog pop", meaning the sophistication of progressive rock but presented in a way that is listenable to non-music nerd fans, like popular rock. Plus the songs aren't like 15 minutes long, either.
11
That's what made me sub
11
Lots of memories attached to this song, involving cassette tapes, hair spray, and a Chevy Camaro.
11
@stantonh1452 Even country is just pop music with a southern accent now.
11
@thescramble4309 You sound like you're pretty tough.
11
@markashe3786 Well good for you. Fortunately there's nobody by that name in Metallica, so you can listen to them and keep your signaled virtue intact.
11
When Alex Lifeson finally shows up here I will consider the point turned!
10
They put a lot of thought into the song, but in the end it's still a schmaltzy song that has no appeal for me. Interesting only from a theory nerd point of view. Good video.
10
You can never go wrong putting Tori Amos in front of a piano and a microphone. She will always be awesome.
10
@ckbennetttn Even Smithereens. At least they were considered "college rock" in the 80s.
10
He should've trolled us and put it up as a Vanilla Ice bass intro lol.
10
I first heard it growing up watching Apocalypse Now.
10
Yep, what most young pop fans don't think about is that most of this music is produced, recorded, mastered, etc. by guys like Rick, who are about his age and have lots of experience in the business.
10
Please tell us all about your poor life choices.
10
Throw in my defense of Alice in Chains and Tool.
9
Rick has talked about this before, especially in his Bonham vids, where he puts Zeppelin tracks in a DAW and quantizes them, making them suck.
9
Yes, beware the bunny boilers!
9
@donkeyshot8472 I mean, at the RRHOF induction he was practically doing standup.
9
Metallica should pay you for your know-how, Rick.
9
Well good for you then.
9
Mine is more of a minor flat 5 headache.
9
Anything off the first 3 or 4 Sabbath albums is awesome, to be honest. I can listen to them all end to end without any skips.
9
If it weren't for this channel, I'd never even know any of these songs exist. The juvenile and repetitive mediocrity made me tune out of pop a long time ago. A shame, since some of these artists have actual talent but they aren't in a position to let it show. Also, awesome thumbnail.
9
I think he sucks, the halftime show was well-choreographed garbage. But you know, that's just like, my opinion.
9
@ericmorrissette2253 I remember when my mom first let me use the internet, way back in 1969.
9
The microphone deserves to make the list, but like any of the things mentioned on this list, by itself is useless; it's only part of a system of amplification, which itself may be part of a PA system or a system of recording, and they did mention the vacuum tube and magnetic tape, which together enabled hi fi recording. It's really tough to put together a list like this, because so many of these inventions are so dependent on other inventions and how they are used together.
9
"If I wrote that riff (Michael Jackson's Beat It) we could've been talking about this on my space shuttle from all the bread I would've made." Hilarious. Amazing to hear that MJ wrote riffs with his voice to teach to his musicians.
9
@Dan-yq8lf Took you long enough, I knew one of you'd be along sooner or later.
8
Wow, lots of haters here.
8
You have to imagine that in Morpheus's voice
8
@kingoftheworld5753 If she did hire a guy like that, she should've hired a guy who was better at convincing the jury. To answer your question, I've read that the reason they asked for a jury was because jurors are randos with no music education, so they'd be easier to bullshit.
8
Sad thing is that even the singers who can sing great get autotuned into oblivion.
8
That's a great podcast.
