To be fair, your use of Tsar Bomba as an example is a poor choice, since that was much larger yield than operational devices and was not a practical weapon. So you'd want to replace it with about a dozen smaller warheads striking various targets around DC, which might even be worse.

Self-loathing metrosexuals tell us about their first world problems and why we should all hate white people and auto companies for the horrible world we live in, where we can travel long distances quickly and cheaply. Leftists applaud them through their Apple products before jumping into their Beemers and Audis to head for the Starbucks.

The US is different because you are envied, and everyone with an inferiority complex has to make themselves feel better by nitpicking oddities in your language or behavior.

Could be worse, according to Blade Runner we should have Replicants running around murdering people in a cyberpunk hellhole.

When I was little and the DeLorean came out I remember people thinking it was sort of cool looking but it had a rep as an underpowered dog with reliability issues, and when DeLorean got busted and the company broke up everyone figured it would soon be forgotten about as another weird failed startup. Then one movie comes out and suddenly the car is immortal. And in recent years as the 80s retro vibe has ramped up the DeLorean has become an even bigger icon than it ever was in its own day. Amazing to see how history and pop culture work in realtime like that.

This film and Gigli came out around the same time. Coincidence?

@dewarkhodern9990 Funny how movies do that. Smokey and the Bandit totally made Pontiac a fortune in Trans Am sales.

nipples Wow, nips, you really put me in my place, now I'm gonna reexamine my life and turn into a liberal.

Ever since I saw Twilight Zone: The Movie, I find all those old black and white cartoons to be really creepy.

Oh cool, I thought it was just me.

Most of the awful pop songs you use as examples needed to fade out before they began.

The US uses both systems. Metric in the military, science, and engineering, and English ("Standard American English, SAE, or whatever) for everyday things like weather and driving. Once you get used to it, it's not that hard to convert in your head between the two. Also, the UK still uses old fashioned units like miles and stone and so forth. And aviation and maritime fields still use nautical miles and fathoms. In addition to the difficulty of switching over, old-fashioned units are part of a nation's culture and history. Sam Clemens' pen name "Mark Twain" refers to a river depth of two fathoms. I guess he could've called himself "About Four Meters Deep" but that's not a very romantic pen name...
