  4. Years ago I had to do this. The rules said no parachutes. So I built a set of auto-rotating helicopter blades out of balsa and basswood, with a plastic tube shock absorber on the bottom. Overly complicated? Hell yes, and a glorious thing it was! Unfortunately, it hit the ground sideways on the first landing and bent the shock absorber, which meant I couldn't immediately drop it again without repairs, which disqualified me. I still got an A, though, because nobody else understood how autorotation worked and everyone else's solution was boring, like the bag of popcorn or a foam block.

  5. Also, the drone is straight up cheating. The rules also don't say you can't hire some kid to carry the egg down the stairs for 5 bucks, but that's probably cheating, too.
