This would never replace 2-rail vehicles anyway. It would be useful for some shortline type stuff, like a city light rail or Disney's theme park system, but for heavy freight, which is what the vast majority of railroads haul to make money, 2 rails is the only way to go. Same with long distance heavy passenger service like the modern Amtrak intercity sleeper trains.

I think that was the Dragon capsule testing it's launch escape system. Basically small rockets designed to fire you off the top of the launch vehicle in case of emergency.

So did it have a kickstand for when you shut down at day's end?

After all the money and effort put into building it, it seems odd that they didn't use it for Space Shuttle and now Artemis. Assuming this exists at both LC-39A and LC-39B, it could be used for Falcon 9 Dragon crews and ground techs as well. The construction, using shock springs under the deck, sounds like how they built the nuclear-hardened ICBM control capsules and also the buildings inside Cheyenne Mountain.
