  6. +Michael Anderson Sounds good in principle, but the part about getting rid of all deductions wouldn't work.  The guy making $10 billion can afford to pay $1 billion in taxes.  The guy making $15,000 will probably have a really tough time paying $1,500 in taxes while still having enough to live on.  A flat tax could work, but you'd really have to make the first $15k-$20k tax exempt.
