Not sure about the Tirpitz having fire control radar. In the spring of 1943, and with Germany believing it was winning the war, many military projects were cancelled, including those involving radar. So it is doubtful that they would have been spending money on a ship which rarely went into combat. The Germans got a huge shock when, in 1944, they discovered that the British had started putting radar on its Lancaster bombers to assist with navigation and targeting. As a side note many of the scientist, engineers et cetera who worked on those cancelled projects were sent to fight on the Eastern Front. They later had to bring back those who survived to work on other projects. Makes you wonder how they lost the war. Brigades of Royal Marines fought as infantry in many of the land battles in France during WW1. Oddly many armoured trains used by the British during the 19th century had their artillery pieces manned by the Royal Navy. You have to wonder what the Royal Artillery thought of this.
