  1. This vagueness when passing on information carried on into WW2. Montgomery had this problem in North Africa and he decided to just ignore any information passed on to him from Bletchley Park. Crete was lost for the same reason as the information passed to those involved was so meaningless that it was of no help. If sufficient information had been given to those in charge the Germans would have been defeated. It makes you wonder why, between the wars, people from intelligence and the armed forces did not sit down and work this out.
