  1. Interestingly Senator John McCain spoke recently but Vietnam being a war where the rich could afford to avoid the draft whereas the poor could not. Obviously aimed at Donald Trump. I actually know about these riots. Some clips from the film The Gangs of New York came up on YouTube and being curious I decided to read up about New York at that time and came across the riot. I was actually aware of the riots before then but up until that point I had not researched what had happened. Interesting how many people think a war will be over quickly, especially large wars such as the American Civil War or WW1. I think the shortest major war in the last 200 years is the Franco-Prussian which lasted six months, though for the most part the campaign over in the first 30 days with the rest being the siege of Paris. Anyway, another very interesting piece of history. Thanks

  2. Well as it was Hollywood, never known to let the facts get in the way of a good story, or even a bad story if it come to it, I took it as read that it was not factual. The clips came up and I was curious to see what really which is why I looked it up.
