i was going to say I don't remember Robert Newton doing that. Was it better then the cleaning bill for having parrot poop all down the back of his coat. Or did they make the parrot use the poop deck. And Newton still influences pirate films today in the form of Geoffrey Rush. Actually there seems to be so many pirates with West Country accents Cornwall must have been empty.

@RocketGurney A Pirate on your shoulder, a wooden leg and a ship at sea. I think balance could be a problem here. It would make a great Olympic sport though.
