  1. That would be interesting. It was during what is referred to as The Little Ice Age which ran from 1300 through to 1850. When Charles Dickens described snow laden winters in his novels he was remembering the past as such scenes had become rarer as the century went on. It would also be interesting to look at the early part of that period. 1315 to 1321 which are often referred to as 'Years Without Summer' because of the almost continuous rain for those year which caused widespread famine through crops failing to ripen. It was so wet that in 1315 a French army was stopped in its tracks when their horse sank up to their bellies in mud. This was in the middle of summer.
