Back in the 60s there was a health campaign in Britain to encourage people to use a handkerchief when they sneezed. Part of the message was not new, witnessed by the leaflet you showed. The messages was 'Coughs and Sneezes Spread Diseases. Trap Your Cold in a Handkerchief.' I found it interesting that the original message was included in the new one. Obviously if America had not joined the war the flu would not have spread world wide as it did. But prior to that there was a peace group pushing for an end to the war who influence had been spreading and eventually included President Wilson. It came very close to succeeding and if had done so America would not have entered the war. And the flu would have been isolated to a small area of America. Unfortunately events over took these efforts and America did enter the war. the rest, as we know, is history.
