  1. Makes you wonder how differently things could have been. In many ways it could have resembled Medieval Europe with its small kingdoms and dukedoms. If this was the case then what is now America could have ended up a number of larger countries similar to Spain, France and Germany are now. The possiblities are many and varied. When Texas gained independence Britain was the first country to recognise it.
