I knew that St. Patrick was British and went over to Ireland to convert the Irish and about the snakes never having arrived in Ireland. But did you know that later the Irish sent priests to Britain to help keep Christianity alive when the Romans left. It had long been thought that Christianity left with the Romans and did not return until much later on. But we now know that it did not disappear entirely and that priests were sent over from Ireland to help keep it alive. The book of Kells is supposed to represent Celtic art. But if you look at Irish art, similar to pre-Roman British art, and look also at Anglo-Saxon art you will see that the Book of Kells is a mixture of the two. It is, in fact, Hiberno-Saxon art. It is now thought that the Book of Kells was supposed to have been sent as a gift to British Christians. The notion that the Celts were in the British Isles was a 19th century romantic idea and the real Celts never got any closer then Spain and Portugal.
