I knew about the Cuban marathon runner and what happened to him. Had a sleep and still came fourth. What's that say about the rest of the field? As for the winner being helped over the line I seem to remember another Olympics in the same era when this happened but this time the runner was disqualified. Baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder the International Olympic Committee, was inspired by the by a visit by him to the Wenlock Olympian Games in 1890 and was regarded by him as part of the Olympics. It would be interesting to revive some of the original sports. The 'Old Women's Race' with the prize of a pound of tea could be one of the events brought back. But the blindfolded wheelbarrow race has got to be in the next Olympics. I think in this case maybe a time limit for how long each race should be and, possibly no longer then an hour. And, in the circumstances, a prize for everyone who actually gets over the line.
