There is a faux Chinese saying "May you be born in interesting time." Well the USS Boston was definitely born in interesting times, and was involved in many of them. Your post came up just as one from the naval historian Drachinifel. His is on HMS Victory which has been in service with the Royal Navy for 254 years. On the two hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar a number of French officers were invited to have a tour around HMS Victory by the British Royal Navy, just to show there was no hard feelings. One of the French officers, on sighting some cannon balls, asked if they were the ones fired at the French Navy during the battle. "No", came the reply. "You've still got them."
