  1. Have you heard of Jan Gotlib Bloch. He predicted trench warfare 1898 and said it would be so horrific it would make warfare totally impossible and would lead to stalemate on the battlefield. Much of what he predicted with regards to trench warfare did come true but in all of this he seems to have forgotten one thing, human ingenuity. That ingenuity brought us things like the tank and the aircraft which, once the tactical uses were perfected, helped to break trench warfare.
