  1. Dane Gold or Danegeld is a miss interpretation. In Old English the letter G next to a vowel is pronounced as the letter Y. So it is actually Dane Yield, or money yielded to the Danes. In Old English the double letter C in Wicca is pronounced as CH as in church. So it would sound like wicha. And church was spelt ccurcce. Interesting this misunderstanding led people in Scotland using the word Kirk.
