  2. The French came up with an idea during WW1 of having an armoured car with an aircraft engine and a propeller mounted at the rear of the car. The idea was to use the propeller to push the car along over the battlefield. It was not, as will have guessed, a huge success. Having said that America did power their M3 Lee/Grant tanks and the M4 Sherman using aircraft engines. Not to mention the M3 and M5 Stuart tanks. Just not with a propeller.
