  2. It has been awhile but I believe it is an eagle which was featured in a previous video. I think the story is that it is possibly extinct as there were never many of them. It would be worth looking through the videos to check it out. I hope your son is enjoying the videos.

  4. Actually quarantining people was used in many parts of Europe. In fact there are many recorded cases of towns and villages throughout history trying to quarantine themselves or parts of their towns but not always with success. And Christianity was often the problem. Medical knowledge during the Medieval period was often more advanced in Muslim countries but this was often rejected in Christian countries because Muslims were not Christians, and Muslim medical practises were seen by many as the work of the Devil. It is made even worse when, as with the Black Death in the mid 14th century, the Christian church claimed it was a judgement of God on the wicked ways of the people. How do you deal with something sent by God. Surely to do so would incur more wrath. It did backfire badly on the church, though, when priests, nuns, bishops and others of the church also died of the plague. If it was sent by God as a punishment for peoples wickedness then what had the church been doing.

  5. Interestingly there was a cholera epidemic of 1832 which hit New York and also hit the City of York, amongst many other places. It caused 185 deaths in York and a separate burial ground had to be set up to take the extra burials. There is still a monument to the dead there today.
