  1. One of my first jobs was working in the stockroom at the top of a department store. This included using a lift with the metal scissor gate which I hated as I had come close to trapping my fingers in on more then one occasion. Especially when opening it. So I used to slam it open or shut as hard as I can moving my fingers out of the way as I did so. And I was not alone in doing this. Even the stockroom manager used to do it, roundly cursing it as he did so.
