Very interesting. Thanks for that. Everyone knows about places like Chicago and New York but you don't the smaller places are rarely heard of. I am not sure why they thought prohibition would be a success. It looks to me like it had not been thought it through. Banning the production and sale of alcohol was not going to stop people wanting to have a drink. And as we all know where there's a will there's a way. We did have a temperece movement here in the UK which date back to the 19th century but to many people's livelihood were tied up in it for it to have succeeded in banning the sale of alcohol.

@TheHistoryGuyChannel Interesting about the drop in cirrhosis. It would be helpful to know how much the consumption of alcohol had changed during this period. Also how deaths are recorded. I know that one problem in the past here in the UK was that the cause of death may be attributed to one cause when there could well be an underlying one. As an example someone may be recorded as dying on pneumonia while the underlying problem was cancer. So cancer was under reported as contributing to the cause of death.
