  1. I read a day or two ago that there average time a soldier was in combat in the Pacific in WW2 was 40 days during four years of service. In Vietnam it was 240 days combat for a one year tour. That means a Vietnam Vet saw as much action in two months as a WW2 Vet in four years. Or, to put it another way. a WW2 Vets would have had to have served 24 years to see the same amount of combat.
