  1.  @waynek805  The RAF and USAAF bombers were keeping one million Germans plus thousands of aircraft and AAA guns in Germany protecting it. Imagine if they had been let loose on the Eastern Front. When this was mentioned to 'Uncle Joe' he just dismissed it because as far as he was concerned only the Soviets were bearing the brut of the war.

  2. That's why it was such a fantastic aircraft. It had to get the two crew, the bombload and all that brass into the air.
