  1. I have wondered why the Soviet Union did not make more of the US missiles in Turkey. Especially after removing its missiles from Cuba. This failure cost Khrushchev the leadership because the Soviet Union had lost face. Another failure was not telling the Soviet ambassador to the UN what was going on in Cuba. So imagine how he felt having derided the US claims only to be presented with the photographic evidence
