  2. Died drinking the water of life. Made me laugh. In September we are going on holiday which will include a trip to Holy Island where I plan to make a small detour to Lindisfarne Mead. And as it is my birthday a week later I am sure some of the mead will be consumed in celebration.

  3. I thought it was eels as I knew the local abbey at Wayne in East Yorkshire were paid eels as the churches tithe. In the Roman period British oysters were so popular that they were shipped to Rome as a delicacy.

  4. In Italy pizza was sold as fast food where people could buy a slice of pizza. The more you paid the bigger the slice.

  5. I did once read of a man in the 14th century who went water skying. How his was pulled along I cannot remember but he was successful. Unfortunately what he did was deemed to be witchcraft and he was put to death.
