  1. I understand that back in the late 60s Soviet Russia found out that the USAF wanted a new ground attack aircraft. So the decided to fly spy satellites over the US to find out what America was working on. Eventually they got photographs of this new aircraft and used it as the basis for their ground attack aircraft. The Soviets got the Su-25 while the USAF got the A-10. It seems US intelligence had sold the Soviets a pup.
