  1. I am surprised this has not been done already. Designs were drawn up years ago which would have both underwater turbines and wind turbines used together on the same structure.

  3. It was called the Jug because that is what it looked like. A water jug. As for fire power the C Wing Spitfire carried four 20 mm cannons. Enough to ruin anyone's day. The water injector was not unique to the P-47. I believe, in fact, the Germans had already used it first on the Me-109. The P47 was an excellent aircraft. Very rugged which could take a lot of punishment and still keep flying.

If the invasion of Japan had gone ahead one proposals put forward was for the warships with the best triple A to lead the invasion to draw out the Japanese aircraft which would have been shot down leaving the invasion force to face less attack from the kamikazes. You can see how important these fuses would have been. This triple A task force would have included both US Navy and Royal Navy ships as both had experience dealing with air attacks.

  6. The Blackburn Buccaneer was a highly agile low level bomber and as such needed to have very strong wings. The normal technique of attaching the skin to the ribs would never have survived the extremely tight turns the aircraft was capable of. So they also used the technique of milling out the unneeded material with produced the skin and ribs as one unit. They used aluminium rather then titanium.

  7. Actually an Australian submarine did the same thing. Even more impressive was the British Royal Navy Captain, later Admiral, Sir Sandy Woodward who, while on an exercise with an American fleet, simulated the destruction of the fleets carrier. He sailed up to it at night with all the ships lights on and be the time the Americans challenged his ship it was to late as he had all its weapons aimed at the carrier.

  10. Before WW2 the Germans flew an aircraft across the Atlantic to America and for parts of the journey they used ground effect to save on fuel.
