The question is is China up to invading Taiwan. There is no evidence that China has the ability to carry out such an invasion. And unlike with D-Day there are only some twelve places where Chinese forces can land its forces, all of which Taiwan has covered. Also there does seem to be elements within the Chinese armed forces who do not want to carry out an invasion. Xi had already been warned not to invade Taiwan by the Chinese military. Like with Russia there are a lot of people in the military making money out of their positions and they would not want to ruin a good thing.
