  1. The Belarusian army is not the thing keeping Lukashenko in power, it is the Belarusian riot police. They get all the best equipment and training. The truth is the Belarusian army was until recently some 15,000 badly trained and poorly equipped troops. Their new recruits are ex-soldiers, with the same level of training, and border who were transferred to the army but who have even less training. The joint manoeuvres between the Russian and Belarusian armies is just bluff and bluster to scare Ukraine and NATO into negotiating a peace settlement. Like that's going to work.
