I know two stories about bird strike testing. One was where no matter how they did the test it always went through the canopy. Then it was pointed out to them that the chickens should be defrosted first. That made all the difference. Second was at a USAF base in America. were the base commander would order a chicken from a nearby store when needed. The owner of the store would lovingly hand pick chicken as it was for the base commander. He finally had a chance to talk to the base commander where he asked about the chickens and during the course of the conversation discovered that they were being used for bird strike test.
