  1. The British tested a similar type of torpedoes back in the 50s which resulted in one of the torpedoes exploding. On the 16th June 1955 while in harbour HMS Sidon was sunk after one of its hydrogen peroxide torpedoes exploded in the torpedo tube blowing off the submarines bow and causing the deaths of 13 sailors. After this the torpedo was viewed as being too dangerous because of the instability of Hydrogen peroxide. This should have been known to the Russians which makes you wonder why they went ahead and used hydrogen peroxide anyway.
