  1. I seem to remember a huge outcry about the executions as the original intention was that it would be done by garroting the prisoners. An extremely barbaric form of killing. It was this outcry that stopped the garroting at the last minute.

  2.  @topbreak38  I think Volvo was the first to design the seatbelt but did not patent it, or had a sort of open patent, so it would be available to all car manufactures. Safety first, you could say.
